Bale Mountains National Park is approximately 2200km2 and situated approximately 400km south of Addis Ababa. It is the largest area of Afro-alpine habitat in Africa.
Bale Mountains National Park offers visitors unsurpassed mountain walking, horse trekking, scenic four-wheel driving, mountain biking and the chance to see many of Ethiopia's endemic mammals such as the Mountain Nyala and the Simien wolf.
Endemic birds include Yellow-fronted Parrot, Blue-winged Goose, Abyssinian catbird and Abyssinian woodpecker.
